Business Continuity Awareness Week
The Business Continuity Institute (BCI) runs an awareness week each year. The theme in 2021 was “Business Continuity Starts with you”, covering basic questions such as:
What would you do if?
- Your house was flooded? Do you have your household and car policy numbers, insurance contacts details, have options of what to do next? Could you get hold of this information if you could not go into your house?
- You lost your house keys?
- You could not access your online banking and your accounts are frozen? We rely so much on the digital world, but we need to ensure we have a Plan B
What would your team do if?
- You could not access the IT infrastructure (e.g. email system, network drives, SharePoint online)?
- What critical tasks do you need to do, and would you need to do them?
- What would you do if a key team member suddenly left?
What would your Division/Department or Service do if?
- You could not use your offices because (part of) Oxford was cut off for e.g. fire, flood, snow or civil unrest?
- Key files are lost or unauthorised removal?
- What if a key supplier could not supply or went into receivership?
- How would you contact key people in an emergency, including out of hours?
